Sharidan Parr MD, MSCI
Department: Vanderbilt Center for Kidney Disease
Biography
My focus is improving care for patients with acute kidney injury (AKI). Previous work includes 1). using biomarkers of injury to predict prognosis in patients with AKI, 2). evaluating practice patterns and risk factors in AKI, and 3). examining the effects of AKI on future kidney function. I am also passionate about the interface between medicine and technology, realizing the potential of the electronic health record system to improve patient safety and quality of care. I am currently in the Vanderbilt/VA Medical Informatics Fellowship and research program, expanding my knowledge in clinical information systems, data modeling, and data structure, with the goal of designing and operationalizing informatics tools that translate clinical research findings into improved health care delivery and outcomes for patients with kidney disease.
